Surgical Robotics

After several years of creating custom solutions for digital technology projects, I began meeting with George Young, the Founder and CEO of a global management consulting firm, Kalypso. Soon after, I joined the firm’s digital innovation team, focusing on IoT, advanced analytics, and product lifecycle intelligence advancement for Fortune 100 Companies. (Note: Due to the exclusive nature of the firm, no internal project content or IP will be shared.)

Human Centered Design for IoT Remote Presence

During persona discovery, we created day in the life interviews and user journey maps. We took the user stories and created wireframe mockups of how a remote presence interface would command IoT functions. During user interface design, technical architecture, security architecture, and regulatory aspects were assessed. Our team of 5 technical consultants developed the architecture, processes, and working interface for multi-user remote access of an emerging surgical robot.

Agile Project Management

As a Senior Project Manager, I was in a project-wide support role on agile project planning, scrum, product design, security, and client-facing communications, updates, and presentations. While working with the project lead to support the planning of sprint delivery through multiple phases of development, contributing to support of developer and security development tactics, and joining stand ups and ensuring the Scrum Master has client-side support from the Product Owner and Project Lead — I was documenting the overall process for the purpose of replicating similar technical capabilities to other business units. Focus: Socialization.

Remote Service Integration and Socialization

After successfully testing, installing, and integrating our IoT device management portal with the client’s device, our remote capabilities for device fix, software updates, and log file retrieval created a global view of key components within the robot. Our reporting dashboard integrated with the client’s data lake, allowing for present and future application of advanced analytics for newly automated commands (based on historic data). By documented our processes, the organization began to replicate remote capabilities to remote medical devices across the company.
